Sarachek Predoctoral Fellowship

The Sarachek Predoctoral Honors Fellowship provides an award of $17,600 to a graduate student enrolled in a PhD program at Kansas State University. The award is intended to recognize exceptional achievement in scholastics and research. Students must show evidence of effective communication of research results through publications in leading journals and presentations at national and international meetings. In addition to the fellowship, up to three Sarachek Scientific Travel Awards of $1,000 each may be presented annually.

Graduate Student Travel Grants

The Kansas State University Graduate Student Council (GSC) supports graduate student travel to professional events. Participation in these events provides students with opportunities to advance their research and build their professional network. Attending professional events also enhances the graduate student experience as well as the visibility of the university.

Financial Support

  • Financial support may be available to qualified students in the form of graduate research assistantships, fellowships, or other scholarships. All applications are evaluated for available assistantships.
  • Departmental graduate research assistantships (GRAs) for academic year 2022-2023 are $27,500 for both M.S. and Ph.D. students. The GRA for 2023-2024 will be $28,325.
  • Highly competitive applications will be reviewed for the potential for a student to rotate in multiple faculty programs before being placed in a major professor's program.
  • Students may also be eligible to apply for fellowships from private and federal sources. Applicants are encouraged to explore those opportunities.

International Students

  • International students who do not obtain financial support from K-State must submit a written statement showing the amount of financial support which they will provide for educational expenses, either personally or from family, their home institution, their government, a sponsoring agency, etc.
