Sycamore anthracnose is the most serious of the anthracnose diseases in Kansas. The most conspicuous symptom of the disease in early spring is death of twigs and new shoots.
Several species of ornamental and native trees in Kansas suffer from iron chlorosis. The most susceptible species are pin oak, silver maple, baldcypress, and sweetgum.
Pines are susceptible to several diseases, which can cause defoliation, dieback, and even death. This publication highlights the most common and serious of these diseases in landscapes and windbreaks in Kansas: tip blight, Dothistroma needle blight, and pine wilt.
