Biography
I am originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I got my B.S. in Agronomy from Sao Paulo State University (UNESP-FCA). After I graduated, I worked with field research demonstration to soybean farmers as a Technical Field Assistant at Dow AgroSciences in the state of Mato Grosso (Brazil).
I got my M.S. in Plant and Soil Sciences from Oklahoma State University (OSU) with a thesis focused on the effects of different combinations of late-season foliar fungicide and different sources and rates of foliar nitrogen application to winter wheat across Oklahoma.
I then got my PhD in Plant Pathology at Kansas State University working under Dr. Barbara Valent. During my PhD studies and in my current position as a Research Assistant Professor, I have focused my research on different management strategies to control wheat blast, including but not limited to the identification of novel sources of genetic resistance in wheat and its wild relatives through conventional breeding and transgenic approach, fungal genetics, and epidemiology.
